THE PAYOFF: Weapon Amplification is not just “gun level five.” Frozen Trail adds branching AMP versions for 15 weapons at launch, researched through your Outpost and powered by AMP modules found in the new endgame content. This could change which guns are worth hoarding, researching and risking topside.

How Weapon Amplification works
The new system is tied to the Research Workstation inside your Outpost. Research opens amplified versions of eligible weapons rather than simply adding another generic stat bump.
Embark’s Q&A confirmed 15 weapons will support AMP initially. Gadgets and grenades do not get AMP versions at launch.
AMPs can change how a weapon behaves
The useful part is branching identity. One example given by Embark is a semi-auto AMP for the Hairpin. The Anvil’s splitter functionality is also becoming an AMP path rather than remaining its old separate tech-slot setup.
That’s better design than “+7% damage.” If the system works, AMP choices can create actual builds.
Where AMP modules come from
AMP modules range from Mk1 through Mk5 and are connected to Frozen Trail’s major new encounters. Embark says modules can spawn from the Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass and aboard the Frigate.
Congratulations: the horrifying giant machine now contains crafting materials. Humanity survives because apparently we cannot stop looting.
Durability and risk
AMPed weapons have improved durability, but recovered weapons lose substantial durability after their owner is downed. Embark also indicated research may be required before you can repair certain amplified weapons.
That creates exactly the tension ARC Raiders needs. A powerful weapon should feel valuable enough that bringing it topside is a decision.
What should you do before October 8?
Don’t dump every familiar weapon because a new tier is coming. Keep useful guns and materials, leave stash room, and wait until the research costs and strongest AMP branches are actually known in the live build.
We’ll update this guide once Frozen Trail is live and we can see the real costs, branches and performance rather than pretending preview information is a finished meta.
Bottom line: Weapon Amplification looks like one of Frozen Trail’s most important long-term systems because it connects Outposts, exploration, boss encounters and weapon progression into one loop.
Next: everything we know about Pendola Pass.
ARC Raiders Weapon Amplification changes the build question
ARC Raiders Weapon Amplification matters because a branching upgrade is more interesting than a straight damage ladder. A fully automatic Burletta, scoped Renegade or incendiary Rattler changes what a familiar weapon is for. That can keep old guns relevant without every update becoming “use the new meta gun until the internet gets bored.”
The test is whether the branches create real choices or one obvious answer the community solves in 48 hours. Good amplification should make us argue about range, magazine size, handling, status effects and role.
The research economy may matter as much as the guns
If strong AMP upgrades require risky raid objectives, research becomes another reason to leave comfort routes and contest dangerous areas. That connection between raid loot, Outpost research and weapon builds is what could give Frozen Trail a longer tail than a normal content drop.
