Marvel’s Wolverine is out on PS5, and your next Marvel game doesn’t need a squad—or another giant open-world map demanding your weekends. Logan clocked in on September 15, 2026. Everyone else should probably clock out.
Insomniac’s new single-player adventure is available now. The official game page confirms it is not an open-world game. That distinction matters if you expected Spider-Man with sharper hands.
Marvel’s Wolverine: claws first, homework never

In PlayStation’s developer interview, Insomniac describes designing a heavier, more destructive character, with closer and more visceral encounters than its Spider-Man games. The studio built its approach around Logan’s claws, physicality and capacity to break things. Subtle? Absolutely fucking not. Appropriate? That is the pitch.

What you actually get to play with
Techniques expand your attacks, while Adaptations let you change aspects such as survivability and parry windows. Four Special Techniques can be equipped together. Rage adds another layer to the fighting, and Nightmare Doors offer combat and traversal challenges beyond the main encounters.

Insomniac lists New Game Plus, Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges and Photo Mode among launch features, with a day-one update noted. Read the official features breakdown before planning your replay or screenshot session.
There is a person underneath the claws

The developer interview puts Logan’s relationships with Sabretooth, Mystique and Jean Grey at the center of its discussion. Insomniac describes an original take on those dynamics, not a straight replay of familiar comic-book scenes. The emotional stakes are part of the design, alongside the destruction.
The Maz take: earn the next gaming night
The interesting question is not whether Wolverine looks angry enough. That part seems covered. It is whether the combat choices give that anger somewhere interesting to go. A focused superhero adventure has plenty of appeal when your other games already come with seasonal obligations.
